Steel Days offers many activities for people in American Fork. However, there is more to do during the rest of the summer. One event that has been popular through the years is the summer concert series. It's changed locations and formats, but remains a community favorite.
This year, it will take on a slightly different look, one that promises to be even more relaxing. The concerts will be at the Quail Cove Amphitheater, 851 E. 700 North, but this summer those who attend will be located in the grassy area on the south side of the stage. They are invited to bring blankets and chairs.
“Come, relax and enjoy some fun concerts,” said Rob Shelton, the city councilman who is overseeing Steel Days. “These concerts should be more casual than in years past.” Attendees are invited to come early, starting at 6 p.m., and enjoy menu items form a variety of food trucks. There will also be booths and boutique items for sale. The music will begin at 7 p.m.
“You can come at 6 p.m. and save your spot,” Shelton said. “Come, enjoy dinner if you like, and partake of the warm, friendly, family atmosphere.” The concerts will have a longer schedule than in some previous years.
They begin June 12, and continue June 19 and 26. There will be no concert July 3, for the Independence Day holiday. July 10 the format will revert to using the rock amphitheater seats for the traditional American Fork Symphony performance during Steel Days. Another concert will be on July 17. There will not be one held on July 24. More concerts continue July 31, Aug. 7 and 14.
